On July 6, 2026, Seoul's foreign exchange market will operate around the clock for the first time in Korean history. The Seoul FX Market Operations Council voted unanimously to extend trading hours from the current 9 AM to 2 AM schedule to a continuous Monday 6 AM through Saturday 6 AM operation — including most public holidays and weekends. This is the most radical reform of Korea's financial infrastructure since the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, and it arrives at a moment when USD/KRW is holding stubbornly above 1,500 for 11 consecutive trading sessions. I think this timing is no coincidence.
